30 James Street - Home of the Titanic
Albion House, 30 James Street, L2 7PQ Liverpool
“Brian was down on his luck and sleeping rough in Liverpool, Lawrence was a successful hotelier and property developer. David was a self proclaimed hippy in a dead end job. Together they formed an unlikely alliance and created a homeless shelter like no other.”
In December 2017, Liverpool was in the grip of arctic weather conditions with sub zero temperatures set against a backdrop of unprecedented economic and social welfare cuts.
The homeless epidemic was spiralling out of control in Liverpool with the homeless propping up doorways across the city, desperate for food, warmth and shelter.
Hoteliers and property developers Lawrence and Katie Kenwright decided to open their doors to the homeless with a temporary homeless shelter called Kingsway House. From what started as a basic act of human kindness, little did they realise the task they were about to undertake and the immense challenges they faced.
Award winning Guardian documentary film maker John Domokos spent four months following Lawrence Kenwright, Brian Phillips, David O Keefe and the homeless guests of Kingsway House and the challenges they all faced.
This exclusive screening tells the story of Our House….
