Our free annual community poetry day is back at the West Kirby Arts Centre on Sunday 1st July hosted by Kemal Houghton, Nikki Bennett and Paul Harris. There will be time to read from new poetry publications, share poetry about Wirral’s parks and open spaces,with some poetry from the Green Spaces project and 2018 Poetry Picnics. There are open mic spots, and we invite you to enjoy another “Poet’s Tea” with plenty of tea and cake! Jackie Kay will join us to help with the presentation of prizes to winners of the Festival’s annual open poetry competition.

1pm for 1.30pm Arrive (and sign in if you are reading),
1.30pm Share your poetry book, Several invited poets will read from their new publications, followed by an open session for poets to read from and promote their own publications
3.00pm Green Spaces – poetry about Wirral’s parks and open spaces. Readings from the Green Spaces project and from this year’s Poetry Picnics followed by an open mic session for poets to read poetry about parks, coastline and open spaces,
4.30pm Poet’s tea,
5.00pm Brief Prize-giving ceremony for the 2018 Festival Open Poetry Competition,
The Community Poetry Day is followed by a ticketed reading by Jackie Kay at 6.00pm.

From 1st June, if all places not taken by then, a limited number of tickets will be available to obtain over the counter at Staacks and Lattetude, West Kirby, and Acorn Picture Framing and Nine Leaves Tea Lounge, Hoylake or on the door
