Heaven's Gate are delighted to present alt-country rockers Case Hardin at the wonderful venue that is 81 Renshaw. With great support from stylish singer-songwriter Hannah Rose Platt and rootsy rockers Mudcat Landing this promises to be an exciting and unmissable event.
Case Hardin: Signed to Clubhouse Records, the band take their name from Boston Teran's noir thriller 'God Is A Bullet' (Pan 2000), a character from the book songwriter Pete Gow was reading when the call came through that they had secured their first gig. Since then they have played many, many gigs and have become firm favourites on the UK Americana scene.
Pete Gow, «a songwriter like no other» (Q Magazine — Roots Album of the Month), trades in songs that tell stories and the band is all about delivering those stories with unswerving power and dedication.
Since their early days, the ‘Gow, Emery, Bastow, Maving’ nucleus of Case Hardin has toughened its look, toughened its direction, toughened its sound and toughed it out through various musicians who came and went over the years. Now they are leaner and meaner than almost any other band around and their live shows are an intense blast of excitement and rough-hewn energy that thrill audiences wherever they appear.
«Incredible… Case Hardin rock harder than most» – Maverick Festival 2015
Hannah Rose Platt: Another superb songwriter who uses her songs to perfectly frame stories of characters and situations so that the listener becomes completely captivated in the worlds she creates. Hannah last graced the Heaven's Gate stage back in July when she provided us with a completely entrancing set in support of the excellent Don Gallardo (even joining him on stage to help out on two numbers).
Mudcat Landing: The modest creators and leaders of all that is Heaven's Gate make an appearance whenever there is a band headlining robust enough to create the perfect atmosphere for their raw, rootsy rock and this is just such an occasion! Like Case Hardin, they too are named from a book, in this case Sherwood Anderson's 'Poor White' in which Mudcat Landing is a place where life without drink is deemed «unbearable»!
